Are you looking to upgrade your skills or change your career? Excel Training offers top-notch training to help you earn your Heavy Combination (HC) truck licence.
This training is designed for drivers who already hold a Medium or Heavy Rigid licence and want to enhance their skills. You will learn how to drive Heavy Rigid vehicles safely and professionally, which is essential if you plan to operate a semi-trailer, such as in “truck and pig” or “truck and dog” combinations. We don’t set a minimum or maximum number of lessons; we provide whatever you need to be test-ready.
For the test, a Heavy Combination vehicle can be a prime mover with more than 15 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and at least three axles, paired with a semi-trailer that has a minimum of two axles. With this qualification, you will also be able to drive trailers over nine tonnes GVM.

Course Completion
To upgrade to an HR licence, you must have held a car licence (minimum Red Plates) for at least 24 months and successfully complete the Heavy Vehicle theory test with QLD Transport, which can be done on the same day as your practical test.

Follow the speed limit and adjust your speed according the road conditions.
Use your turn signal before changing lane or turning and check your blind spots.

Avoid distractions such as using your phone, eating, drinking the while driving
Drive sober and drug-free and avoid driving when you are tired or drowsy
Practice defensive driving by being alert, cautiou and courteous
Know the local traffic laws and signs and follow them accordingly
